Welcome to the newest Outer Banks campground. The Refuge on Roanoke Island is located on Roanoke Island just outside of Wanchese Village. This Outer Banks RV Campground has 57 RV sites with 15 available for nightly Outer Banks camping. The remaining 42 sites are designed as year round Outer Banks RV campsites. Located on the Roanoke sound with sound and pond front sites, the views and amenities are sure to please even the most discriminating camper. WiFi and Direct TV will be available to our Outer Banks Campers in April of 09, while each site has 30 and 50 amp power hookups available now. The Refuge on Roanoke Island has an outdoor pool to enjoy, boardwalks that meander throughout the property that provide our guests with nature walks and the opportunity to view all of the Outer Banks wildlife. Additionally, there is a picturesque pond onsite as well as a nicely appointed bathhouse and pavilion.
The Pavilion at The Refuge on Roanoke Island has ample space for hanging out with family and friends. Picnic tables and benches are provided for a place to rest your feet or grab a bite to eat. This space is also available to rent for family reunions, Outer Banks weddings and other large gatherings. It is available to our tenants at all other times. From the Refuge’s Pavilion, you can take a walk along the boardwalks all the way down to the canal and enjoy views of nature and Outer Banks wildlife.
The Refuge on Roanoke Island has an outdoor pool conveniently located beside the picturesque pond so that you can have the best of both worlds. Enjoy the waterfront view while relaxing by the pool. Keep on the lookout for the fish mosaic at the bottom of the pool.
The campground bath house has a ramp that lead the way to the top where you will find an excellent view of the sun, setting over the Roanoke Sound. Inside is plenty of space to "freshen up" with bathroom stalls, hot showers and sinks. Follow the oleander plants, to the right of the building, where you will find our recycling center.
The Refuge on Roanoke Island has campsites that are available for year-round rental. Both waterfront and interior lots are available, which allows you the opportunity to make the Outer Banks your year round home, away from home.
