Tar Heel Trading Company was established on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 1979, and originally featured the work of predominately North Carolina craftsmen. Tar Heel Trading Co. now represents over 300 American artists and craftspeople in its two locations on the Outer Banks, and on www.tarheeltrading.com. For 25 years we have searched to find the finest crafts available, concentrating on quality, function and value. Our buyers are very selective about the work featured in our stores in Duck and Corolla. Each piece is chosen with the customer in mind.

Our knowledgeable staff is always available for details and assistance choosing from our collection of handcrafts by some of the finest artists and craftsmen in the country. Both of our stores offer work by many of the same craftsmen. However Tar Heel Trading in Duck tends to offer more traditional options while Tar Heel Trading in Corolla offers more contemporary selections. Tar Heel Trading Co. carries an extensive selection of handcrafted jewelry. Jewelry collections include earring designs from Mark Ehrmann, one-of-a-kind pins by Cynthia Chang, hand-blown glass beads from Penrose Designs, fine jewelry by Patricia Locke and solid brass, copper and sterling silver bracelets by Sausalito Craftworks. Tar Heel Trading does not offer traditional jeweler services such as jewelry cleaning or repair, however, all of the craftsmen represented will repair their own work. Our staff will be happy to assist you to find an Outer Banks jeweler if you need one.
