Island House of Wanchese B&B is located in the old fishing village of Wanchese on Roanoke Island. It is a small community that is quaint, unique and close to the beautiful Nags Head beaches, lighthouses, saltwater fishing, boating, state parks and great shopping. The Island House of Wanchese Bed and Breakfast invites you to visit Roanoke Island which features the North Carolina Aquarium, the Elizabethan Gardens, Festival Park, Fort Raleigh Historic Site, the Lost Colony and the Wanchese Industrial Fishing Center. Roanoke Island also has some of the best restaurants and unique shopping on the Outer Banks. The area's many attractions may capture your fancy but the seclusion and peace of lounging around this Outer Banks B&B is not without its own appeal. There is an outside gazebo with a Nags Head hammock swing, beautiful flower gardens and large yard to enjoy natures wonders and smells.
Your day at our Roanoke Island B&B begins with an appetizing southern style buffet breakfast served daily in the dining room which includes fresh fruits, yogurts, assorted juices, tea & coffee, southern style grits accompanied by bacon, sausage links or ham and we provide a hot entree as well such as pancakes, waffles, French toast, various egg recipes, hot fruit compotes and sausage gravy. Additionally, there is a guest pantry open 24 hours a day for our guests' convenience.
There are three rooms and a suite at the Island House of Wanchese Bed and Breakfast. All the rooms are decorated with antiques and offer private baths, color cable televisions, radios, DVD/VCR player and central air conditioning. We provide beach towels, chairs and beach umbrellas for our guests.
Lexi's Room is a bright sunny room with warm pinks and yellows, an antique French mahogany and mixed woods queen size bed with feather bedding. English armoire, Irish double dresser, a wicker settee, and a delicate yellow and white oriental rug, cabana fan, color TV, DVD/VCR player and clock radio. A roomy bathroom with corner shower, vanity sink, hair dryer and cotton bath robes.
Delightful shades of blue and white make Cleo's Room the most requested room at the inn. Painted white antique oak and wicker furniture brighten the room. A queen size comfort-select bed with beautiful blue and white quilts welcome you to relax. Oriental rugs add warmth and color to the palette, cabana fan, color TV, DVD/VCR player and clock radio. A claw foot soaking tub with shower and a unique pedestal sink, hair dryer and cotton bath robes.
Quilts adorn the walls and bed along with old quilt sample pictures in Zena's Room.. Antique oak queen size bed with feather bedding, matching dresser and dry sink dresser, oak armoire, two wicker chairs, an inviting oriental rug, cabana fan, clock radio and color cable TV, DVD/VCR player. A cozy bathroom with a stall shower, pedestal sink, hair dryer and cotton bath robes round out this comfortable room.
Willie's Hideaway Suite is located in the new section of the Island House of Wanchese B&B over the innkeepers living area making it a very private and romantic hideaway. Antique oak queen size bed with feather bedding and down comforter, small oak dresser, ladies dressing table with chair, TV with a DVD/VCR, and clock radio with DVD player and cabana fan. Adjoining is a sitting area with a wicker love seat with pillows, a VCR & TV, cabana fan and gas log fireplace to warm the soul when it gets a little chilly at night. The large bathroom has a beautiful stained glass window overlooking the tub size Jacuzzi, a stall shower and elegant pedestal sink, hair dryer and cotton bath robes. This room is perfect for relaxing the night away.
