Come in and meet Mark and Sue Burns of We’re Art, who own and operate the quaint, locally well known, Outer Banks art gallery and frame shop. Originally from Rockville, MD, Mark and Sue feel fortunate to have called the Outer Banks of North Carolina home for the last 25 years. Sue began the business in 1984 in its present location, Surfside Plaza Shopping Center, MP 13 1/2 in Nags Head on the Outer Banks. Mark at the time, was working full time as an electrician and would come home in the evening exhausted from wiring houses all day. He would no sooner walk through the door than Sue would hand him a list of frames that needed to be chopped for the orders that came in that day. As the picture framing orders increased, they made the decision to retire Mark from the electrical business.
In 1994 he became a co-owner and full time employee. Blessed to be able to make a living working together (most days, anyway) doing something they both enjoy. Affordable Outer Banks custom framing is one of the services they offer customers. Specializing in framing all types of needlework and cross-stitch. Sue is the people person. She takes the custom framing orders and cuts the mats, while Mark does most of his work behind the scenes. Sue says Mark is definitely the perfectionist when it comes to framing, so it's only right that he should make the frames, cut the glass and assemble all the framing orders.
Not only do the Outer Banks locals take advantage of our affordable picture framing. Over the years many customers from neighboring states have trusted us to frame their prized artwork possessions.
