Barry LaPlante Outer Banks Massage 06
LaPlante Massage & Kinesiology Summary
Experience a new paradigm in health with a truly thearaputic Outer Banks massage. Barry graduated from Advanced Fuller School of Massage Therapy in 2003 after completing a 500 hour program including anatomy, physiology, massage theory and hands on practicum. After massage school he worked with a chiropractor for 2 years and began trading sessions with a clinical kinesiologist. This work inspired him to study more about applied kinesiology. Barry then took the Touch for Health Synthesis at the U.S. Kinesiology Training Institute in 2004. With still more to learn, he is currently taking advanced classes working toward an international diploma as a Professional Kinesiology Practitioner.
Neuromuscular Therapy – use of static pressure to relieve trigger points in the belly or tendon of a muscle. This pressure sends a signal to the central nervous system telling it to stop firing to those specific fibers of the muscle, relieving spasm.
CranioSacral Therapy – light and subtle pressure is used to influence the correct movement of the cranial bones as well as the bones of the sacrum and spine. These bones have a direct connection with the duramater which houses your cerebral spinal fluid, surrounding the brain and flowing at its own pulse rate up and down the spinal column. This fluid has been dubbed your liquid soul, and is literally the fluid that lubes your brain and all the nerve roots in your entire body. Proper hydration and freedom from adhesions insures proper cerebral spinal fluid flow and results in a better functioning central nervous system.
Shiatsu – Japanese form of acupressure using stretching and comforting hand, finger and foot pressure to help tonify the acupuncture meridians and gain range of motion. (Traditionally performed on a mat on the floor with the therapist bare foot and the client dressed in loose comfortable clothes).
Thai Massage – very similar to Shiatsu though a bit more traditional. Ancient Thai massage dates back more than 3000 years and was originally developed as a sort of preventative healthcare measure by Tibetan Monks. This historic and spiritual form of bodywork predates Shiatsu and any western modality. It is truly one of the first forms of massage. It is an honor to offer this work.
Orthobionomy - a passive counter strain technique which brings the origin and insertion of a muscle as close together as possible to create a nervous system response which resets nerve receptors in the muscle, relieving spasm.
Touch For Health Kinesiology – a system of assessment using muscle testing to gain information from the body’s own innate healing ability. Muscle strength changes from moment to moment depending on different stressors affecting the body; these may be injury, posture, food, emotions, environment etc.
Touch For Health reverses these stressors which show up as weaknesses in different muscles and aims to help the body create a more balanced reaction to the stressor by treating specific reflexes of the lymphatic system, vascular system, acupuncture meridians, and other methods for treating emotional and nutritional factors. Truly a system for everyone young and old interested in: peak performance, increased energy, improved athletic ability, accelerated recovery from illness and injury, improved right/left brain integration and enhanced mental functioning, and preventing future health problems.
Also…Injury Rehabilitation….Aromatherapy…. As well as other myofascial and advanced Kinesiology techniques.
